I was surprised in the morning to see that Razi had crept out of bed in the night and hung a birthday banner across the room! He gave me some lovely jewellery and a card. At breakfast, we had prosecco with orange juice to make the meal a little extra special.

Then we “hit the road” for a three-country adventure. We drove through Germany into Switzerland, where we stopped at Basel’s Old Town for a walk-around. It was very quiet being a Sunday and all shops were closed (which was good because Switzerland is EXPENSIVE). We did find a lovely little coffee shop for “kaffee und kuchen”. We then went back to the car and drove into France through the town of Mulhouse. We didn’t see anything too exciting and then headed back across the Rhine River to Germany.

During the day I received messages and calls and enjoyed my day (although right through the day, there was the underlying concern about the situation in Israel and when we would get home).
